シェイクスピア・ソネット鑑賞短歌134: Tanka for Sonnet 134

中湖 康太

134
おまえこそ いと貪欲な 高利貸し
彼とわたしを 差し押さえして
So, now I have confest that he is thine,
And I myself am mortgaged to thy will,
Thou usurer, that putt’st forth all to use.
And sue a friend came debtor for my sake.

So, now I have confest that he is thine,
And I myself am mortgaged to thy will,
Myself I’ll forfeit, so that other mine
Thou wilt restore, to be my comfort still:
But thou wilt not, nor he will not be free,
For thou art covetous, and he is kind;
He learn’d but, surety-like, to write for me,
Under that bond that him as fast doth bind.
The statute of thy beauty thou wilt take,
Thou usurer, that putt’st forth all to use,
And sue a friend came debtor for my sake;
So him I lose through my unkind abuse,
Him have I lost; thou hast both him and me;
He pays the whole, and yet am I not free.

キーワード訳
So, now I have confest (=confessed; confess 告白する) that he is thine (=yours),
And I myself am mortgaged (抵当に入れる) to thy will,
Myself I’ll forfeit (失う), so that other mine (他のわたし)
Thou wilt (=will) restore (回復する), to be my comfort (慰め) still:
But thou wilt not, nor he will not be free,
For thou art covetous (強欲な), and he is kind;
He learn’d but, surety-like (surety保証人), to write for me,
Under that bond (拘束、契約) that him as fast doth bind.
The statute (法律) of thy beauty thou wilt take,
Thou usurer (高利貸し) , that putt’st forth (出す) all to use,
And sue (訴える) a friend came debtor (債務者) for my sake;
So him I lose through my unkind abuse (乱用),
Him have I lost; thou hast both him and me;
He pays the whole, and yet am I not free.
